Cards on the Playground

Playing cards are a fact of life for children these days and our guidelines for their use are a recognition that life lessons can be learned from their appropriate use.

  1. Cards may be used on the cement benches in areas 1 and 3 and on the green wooden benches on the side of the hill next to the slide.
  2. Students must not allow “cards” to interfere in any way with their schoolwork or during lunchtime while eating. (REMEMBER, cards may only be used in the designated areas noted in Guideline #1.)
  3. Cards may not be bought, sold, given away, borrowed, taken as a joke, or stolen by students at Pine Crest School.
  4. While trading cards is an understandable part of the process, students are encouraged to be thoughtful and responsible when trading, to make trades that are of equal value, to NOT take advantage of others who are younger and/or less knowledgeable when trading, and to keep in mind that all ALL TRADES ARE FINAL AND THERE ARE NO TRADE BACKS (unless both parties agree)!
  5. Protect and take care of your cards while you have them at school and understand that they could be unintentionally lost or damaged or they might even be, unfortunately, stolen. When you are not using your card, they must be kept in your pockets, lunch carrier, backpack, or desk. They should never be visible to others except when you are playing in a game with them in the designated areas mentioned in Guideline #1.
  6. Failure to follow any of the above Guidelines may result in your cards being taken away and in the loss of “Card” privileges at Pine Crest.

Yard Duty Supervisors and Teachers will assist in the implementation of the “Cards on the Playground” program. Please see them with questions and concerns. In addition, we expect all students, whether they are participating in the “Cards” program or not, to support making things work for everyone at Pine Crest School.

Happy "Carding"
